Cover the desktop with a window and Phosphor stops rendering altogether rather than burning a GPU on pixels nobody can see. It picks up again when the desktop comes back.
The render loop caps at 60 fps and halves to 30 the moment macOS switches to Low Power Mode. No setting to find; it just follows the system.
Pauses entirely when you lock or close the lid. Resumes the moment you wake.
Dial in a scene with its post-FX, colour and effect settings, then save the whole thing as a preset and bring it back whenever you want it.
Press ⌘D again and Phosphor drops out of wallpaper mode and back to a floating window. Your desktop is your own again.
